A recent addition to the Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus in Australia presents a good example of how biophilic concepts can be implemented in interior design.
The carpet tiles for the university’s Institute for Intelligent Systems Research and Innovation building are part of the Lichen Collection from Godfrey Hirst Australia. Lichen is a plant that grows on rocks, walls and trees, and the collection is inspired by its different colors and textures.
The collection has been awarded the Living Product Challenge certification by the International Living Future Institute; the first floor covering ever to do so.
