While the pandemic has increased our attention to hygiene and the cleanliness of where we eat, sleep and work, it has also highlighted a number of societal issues.

Now, more than ever, we’re questioning our preparedness for situations like the COVID pandemic and emerging global challenges brought on by climate change. According to an article by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals publication, since urban areas contain most of the population, there’s an immediate need to figure out how to “reduce vulnerabilities” in areas like towns and cities.

While urban areas typically have more productive economies, they also contribute to the increase in various pollutants and diseases. The current pandemic has shown us that different aspects of cities must be “redesigned” in order for them to be more resilient against similar situations in the future.
