The same way being in touch with nature can improve individual wellbeing, being part of a community is also important.
A recent post from the design blog D for Design explains the importance of communities in allowing us to share experiences, show and receive support and feel “part of a group.” The post also notes how the spaces our communities exist in – both indoors and outdoors – must “encourage positive interactions” to help strong communities develop.
“Research has recognized that strong and meaningful relationships contribute to individual mental wellbeing,” Silvia, the personality behind D for Design, explained. “Simply put, people are happier, less stressed and more resilient when feeling part of a group.”
By bringing biophilic elements into community centric spaces, because of the calm environment, people are more likely to cooperate with each other.
