When taking a more biophilic approach to interior design, there’s no need to overthink it. In a recent blog post for Neptune, a British lifestyle brand designing furniture, lighting and home décor, explains just how easy it is to get in touch with nature.
Building off the fundamental concept of biophilia – the connection between people and their natural environment – Neptune explains that it’s a fundamental part of being human and enables us to thrive.
“Studies have shown that having a connection with natural surroundings… can bolster memory, reduce anxiety and depression, improve concentration and significantly reduce stress levels,” the post, written by designer Sally Coulthard said. “People also show physiological responses to nature – from lower heart rates and blood pressure, to improved immune responses, reduced inflammation and better sleep patterns.”
