On Feb. 2, it was announced that Amazon’s Arlington headquarters has entered the second phase of development.
The architecture firm NBBJ has been working with the company on the design of their new location. The first phase of the development, Metropolitan Park, spans 2.1 million square feet. Phase two will consist of a 22-story building, the Helix Tower. Constructed to resemble the double-helix shape of DNA, the structure is obviously inspired by biophilic design.
Upon completion, Amazon’s Arlington headquarters will span 2.8 million square feet, including two hiking paths on the landscaped grounds. Additional employee amenities include a dog run, public amphitheater, open green space and 100,000 feet of retail space for 12 planned storefronts.
